A publication exploring the culture and work surrounding Brooklyn based artist KAWS. With a concept of looking under the surface or “behind the eyes” we took a deep dive into areas surrounding the internationally renowned artist. From NYC creative culture in the 90’s, to modern day influences and from collaborations to controversial moments.
Realised into a swiss-bound hardback publication, printed on Fedrigoni Symbol Freelife Satin 170 gsm, Fedrigoni Arena White 140gsm, G.F. Smith Colorplan 50 colours 120gsm, Cartone Vegetale 3mm – we opted for a number of materials to reflect the various materials KAWS uses within his work. Laser cut front cover and glossy ‘visual artefact’ section are included to help realise the concept of looking deeper / behind the usual.
Typography: Tiempos Text Regular, Tiempos Fine Semibold, Sharp Grotesk Medium 20, Sharp Grotest Book 20. Contrasting typefaces were used to signify the 2 world that KAWS operates within; 1. The fine art international circuit. 2. The graffiti world of NYC streets.
